As a Policy Adviser your role will include:
Leading on specific policy areas, where you will gain expertise in the relevant legislation and policy guidelines.
Engaging with cross-Defra teams who have an interest on your policy area, as well as external stakeholders from Defra’s Arm’s Length Bodies, other government departments, the devolved administrations, Non-Government Organisations, industry and animal keepers.
Using evidence to guide your policy development and drawing expertise from within and outside government.
Co-ordinating policy briefing for Ministers and senior officials.
Planning and prioritising effectively to deliver high quality results to time.
In these exciting, fast moving, and high-profile policy areas in APHW, successful candidates will need to be organised, have an eye for detail and accuracy, have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work at pace.
