As Accelerator Lead, you will be expected to:
Use your data science skills to facilitate customers to undertake data science and analysis using the DASH service
Provide leadership and bring structure to your workstreams, including potentially through line management of HEO data scientists
Build multidisciplinary, collaborative relationships across Defra organisations, looking to maximise the benefits from linking data to address priority policy questions
Support the Head of the Product Development in facilitating engagement with the Data Science community both within Defra and strategically across government (and to industry and academia) to further data exploration and innovation to deliver insights into decision making
Work in partnership with the DASH leadership team to lead the wider team and ensure the service we provide meets user needs
Be an advocate for data science and DASH across Defra Group, driving innovation and uptake of skills and available tools
Develop your skills in relevant products and services including Data Bricks, Spark, distributed computing, etc
Put data science at the heart of Defra
Person Specification:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:
Strong communication skills, including managing relationships with delivery partners
Strong influencing skills and experience of working with senior leaders
A science, analytical, data science, technology or geography background
Good project management skills, with an ability to maintain focus and quality delivery in the face of changing priorities
Proven ability to develop and manage collaborative relationships across teams/organisations to deliver shared goals
Knowledge and/or experience in data engineering, management and governance, data science/analytics (for example, use of relevant software tools (R, Python, Data visualisation or GIS tools etc.) and experience in the application of those skills in the science domain
Some knowledge and/or experience of cloud computing e.g., Microsoft Azure or Databricks
Some knowledge of how a digital team operates, including technologies and roles
Geospatial knowledge would be an asset
